Executive Summary

In 1987, Banting Seats Corporation and Kasai shaped a 35-65 joint venture, Japanese-American Seating Incorporation. (JASI) in Canada. This statement analyses the main element management concerns which influencing the company's high-efficiency production. The report recognizes three supervision issues. First, JASI was producing underneath " kanban” system. This product was relatively recent in North America. Cooperation via suppliers and workers would be necessary for this system. However , due to some historical and ethnic difference, JASI was not adaptive enough to " kanban” system. Because of this, unfamiliarity with " kanban” system was weakening JASI's efficiency of production. Secondly, decision-making is an important part for just about any business firm which make firm going. As being a joint-venture, Western and American have significant difference in their decision-making environment. In Japanese traditions, decisions are made by uppr level. When in American culture, decisions are obtained from down to up. The cultural difference is usually making the process of decision-making slower and deterioration the performance of firm. Third, irrespective of there is even now some several opinion between Japanese managers and American managers, as the reason in the conflict with their different lifestyle of the hierarchy, JASI has already decided to seek the services of a project officer. the more time JASI spend on this management issue the less time they can use to fix other concerns, and this leads to the lowering of company's efficiency. After the managment issues research we came to the conclusion and some successful recommendations.
